Founded in 1978 in Bogota, Encajes S.A. has become the largest lace manufacturer in North and South America. An integrated family business with 500 people on the payroll, Encajes produces 800 tons of lace per year.

Run by the founder’s son Leon Bibas, the company has two factories, in Colombia (20,000 m²) and in China (25,000 m²). It currently numbers 60 latest-generation machines with a total capacity of 1,200 tons.

Encajes is known for the quality of its products and services. In recent years it has implemented a comprehensive environmental policy and continues to invest in new looms to replace aging ones. It has Oeko-Tex, ISO, and REACH certifications.

Every year Encajes brings out four lace collections with a total of 600 designs and a wide selection to choose from, including Fascination, Raschel, Textronic, and Jacquardtronic in stretch or rigid. The company is active on the fashion, lingerie, and household linen markets. Its main customers are Victoria Secret’s, PVH, Calvin Klein, Wacoal, Gap, Princesse tam.tam, Etam, M&S, and H&M.

Exports represent 80 percent of its business. Encajes has offices in its key client countries (France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil). It has recently strengthened its efforts for partnerships in Asia.

Latest innovation: Skin-Soft Laces made from special yarns yielding a soft, cashmere feel.
