Akagii was founded in Lyon in 2016 by Helena Guilloteau. The design studio presents a wide choice of patterns, prints, and illustrations for professionals in the fashion, interior design, and paper goods sectors.
The studio stands out with its unique signature that combines energy and softness in sophisticated prints in lively colours. The geometrics, florals, textural motifs, illustrations, and watercolours are often created by hand; and the wide choice of styles can be used for men’s, women’s, and children’s ready-to-wear as well as interior design.
Every six months Ms. Guilloteau presents around 100 new designs. She also accepts commissions from specific clients. All prints, including those in the collection, are production-ready (repeats, colour separation) and sold with exclusive rights. The Akagii client roster includes renowned sport and outdoors names (Rossignol, Lafuma, Napapijri, and American Apparel) as well as brands such as Maison Simons, Nénés Paris, and others.
Half of Akagii’s output is sold to France. The studio also sells to the United Sates, particularly New York and California (15 percent), as well as to China (10 percent), and Canada (5 percent). Akagii is experiencing strong growth outside of France and is currently looking for agents for the United States, Canada, and Asia (Japan, Korea, and China).
